  Enzyme-linked aptamer assay based DNA aptamer design for detection of Mycobacterium Tuberculosis We learned about Aptamers that are oligonucleotides that can bind to a specific target molecule with high affinity and specificity. These can be used for detection and diagnosis of diseases, and have the potential to be used as therapeutics.The aim of this study was to design and optimize an enzyme-linked aptamer assay (ELAA) for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (M. tuberculosis).Aptamers were selected against M. tuberculosis using SELEX (systematic evolution of ligands by exponential enrichment). ELAA was optimized by varying the concentration of aptamer, enzyme, and substrate. The assay was able to detect M. tuberculosis with a detection limit of 10 picograms per mL.This ELAA can be used for the rapid and sensitive detection of M. tuberculosis, and has the potential to be used for diagnosis and screening of tuberculosis.
