      Worked on Nondestructive Inspection projects for the Propulsion Technology Development Group. Projects included designing and building FOD panels with representative samples from clean rooms across campus, developing a thermal inspection process for the aftermarket repair cell to check for water in parts prior to starting repair, and working with the Thermography system.

      - Performed experimental data collection and analysis for the Center for Aviation Systems Reliability (CASR) Fluorescent Penetrant Inspection Engineering Studies funded by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). Results were presented at 2009 ASNT Meeting (www.cnde.iastate.edu/faa-casr/fpi/FPI%20home.htm)- Assisted with short term rapid turn around research projects for the FAA.

Responsibilities include serving as Spirit’s Primary Nondestructive Inspection consultant to external customer and internal team members, development of Advanced Ultrasonic inspection plans, techniques, and standards required to support fabrication and out of autoclave secondary bonding for assembly.- Developed and facilitated Composite Build and NDI Training for Program Engineers to help them understand how designs affect Build and NDI.- NDI Representative on Capital Procurement Team responsible for providing technical input during the procurement of multi-million dollar NDI machines.- Responsible for coordinating with the shop to utilize production NDI machines for large part inspections.- Developing Thermography for Production applications.- Led Manufacturing Readiness Assesment team. Championed the purchase of new portable inspection system that will save hundreds of hours in labor when implemented.- Spirit’s Thermography expert and focal, responsible for equipment and training.- NDI Focal on multiple new bid/proposal teams for Research and Development programs.- Developed Spirit’s NDI estimate process that is used on new bids/proposals.- Supported new program needs including part specific inspection plans and standard design and fabrication.- Collected and analyzed data to improve production NDI that resulted in identification of process improvement items.- Worked on a Research and Development Engineering Development Plan Team that created a career track plan and training requirements for all Spirit engineers.
