      May 2014 - Sept 2020

A seasonal role working at a boat centre where I coached kayaking, canoeing and stand up paddle boarding. Many of the participants were children and young people groups such as scouts, birthday parties etc. A seasonal role where I was responsible for signing out rowing boats, kayaks, canoes, motorboats and pedalos to members of the public, delivering safety briefings as well as taking responsibility for younger members of staff as well as answering the phone, replying to emails and the admin involved in stock rotation/orders to ensure the smooth running of the centre.

      Clip'n Climb Instructor (Level 2)

A zero hour role working shifts running Clip ‘n Climb sessions which includes taking responsibility for the safety of users on the climbing wall. This role needs a high level of organisation and attention to detail to ensure high safety standards. I intend to continue with this role outside of Uni term time.

    • Warwick District Council

      Feb 2020 - Sept 2020
      Sports Assistant

I initially commenced this role on a 12 week temporary contract to help the Cultural Services Leisure Team cover absence. Within 4 weeks Covid-19 hit and I became a ‘homeworker’. My role changed and I was part of the Sheilding Hub responsible for packing and distributing food parcels to members of the public who were vulnerable during lockdown as well as phoning up redidents to offer further support. The hub ran for 15 weeks and I helped pack and deliver over 2,240 food parcels. This was a very rewarding experience and I learned skills in large scale logsitcs, and gained confidence in talking on the phone to members of the public. My contract was then extended and I continued in the team until I left to start university. My role thereafter included liaising with 40+ different national and local sporting groups assisting in the reopening of venues, ensuring that venues were Covid-19 secure and risk assessments and processes were in place. I conducted site visits and participated in various Zoom calls with contractors and clubs. I was also responsible for drafting the councils first ever Parks Exercise Policy. I saw this policy through from inital research and draft, to approval through the relevant channels, and ulitmately participated in a meeting with elected Councillors who approved the policy. This gave me a unique opportunity to experience democracy and public scrutinity at work. This experience, within a professional environment, has taught how to manage politics and the opinions of many different organisations and stakeholders. Show less

    • GVI

      Jun 2021 - Oct 2021

After completing my contract as U18s staff, I was asked to stay on in Costa Rica at the Community Development base. This included seeing the start of a new education project in a local school, managing expectations when days don’t go to plan, day to day management of volunteers – and the challenges that come with a 24/7 job when you live in a communal house amongst staff and volunteers. Other aspects of my role included leading discussions on local and worldwide issues as well as discussions on personal growth, project intentions and reflection activities. Show less I worked on a wildlife conservation project which involved me taking responsibilty for a group of 10 under 18 year old volunteers of different nationalities. The project included completing forest surveys to create a species list, night time beach surveys for sea turtles, facilitating discussions on local and worldwide issues, as well as outdoor activities such as canyoning, rafting and treking in the rain forest. This work has developed my supervisory skills as managing a team of under 18 years old during Covid restrictions whilst faced with a Covid case within the group, an earthquake, serious flooding and landslides has been a challenge. I have enjoyed being responsible for their safety and welfare and taking on responsibility for the group accounting throughout the trip. Show less
