      Administrative and managerial responsibility for the Student Affairs Unit in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at UC San Diego, which is the largest academic department on campus with over 2000 undergraduate majors, over 600 master's students, and over 300 PhD students. Undergraduate enrollment is nearly 24,000 per academic year, and graduate enrollment is over 6,000 per academic yearOversees programmatic administration, curricular development, and academic advising services of the PhD, MS, and Undergraduate Degree Programs, including management of a team of fifteen staff members, which consists of academic advisors, student affairs coordinators and support staff, and degree program managers.Responsible for the maintenance of the Student Affairs unit budget and oversees the planning, management, and coordination of student support to include Graduate Student Research funds ($7 million annually), TA funds ($3 million annually), Fellowships ($1 million annually), Block Grant Allocations ($1 million annually) and other fund sources.Manages all aspects of student employment, including the corresponding human resources functions, onboarding procedures, and payroll. This includes the management and coordination of the hiring of over 500 unique tutors and nearly 300 teaching assistants per academic year.Responsible for providing analysis and detailed reporting to department business officer, department chair, and other faculty members in department leadership.Coordinates the yearly department teaching and course assignments, which includes the scheduling of over 190 undergraduate courses and over 240 graduate courses across 50-plus faculty and 40-plus temp faculty and lecturers.Principal adviser to the department business officer, Department Chair, and faculty on a broad range of student affairs issues. Show less In the Department of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering (MAE), provided the department chair, undergraduate affairs committee, graduate affairs committee, and management services officer (MSO) with counsel, advice, and solutions for a diverse array of academic and student affairs issues.Oversaw the formulation, development, and administration of curricular and programmatic content, and sought to present and implement novel policies and procedures, as it pertained to academic and student affairs in MAE.Managed the graduate admissions process and all graduate student financial support, including employment of graduate student researchers, teaching assistants, readers, and tutors. Additionally, managed over $3 million in funds (near $5 million, including MSE), and directed short and long-range planning of the budgets to enhance graduate student recruitment and retention and ensure sound support of the academic programs.Responsible for overall supervision and management of the Student Affairs Unit, including four direct reports. I collated, organized, and retained large quantities of data to provide a wide variety of reports. I synthesized and interpreted various data sets to make pertinent recommendations and informed decisions. Used data to make enrollment projections and financial forecasts, and I demonstrated the correlation between the two. Show less Advised over 150 Ph.D and Materials Science & Engineering students, monitoring not only their curricular progress but also their funding and employment.Managed the admissions process, organizing and analyzing over 250 Ph.D. applications and over 150 M.S. applications to streamline the review process for the admissions committee. Coordinated 14 campus visits, and six of the student visitors ultimately matriculated at UCSD. Gained tremendous insight into the financial management aspects of student affairs while being instrumental in the fellowship allocation process.
