      NGN Engineer / Business Analyst

Cable & Wireless Communications Ltd is a British multinational telecommunications company headquartered in London, United Kingdom.Part of my job role was to;• Bulldog Rollout Project. C&W built a Next Generation Network (NGN) which allows businesses to have very quick broadband access. Currently Bulldog, C&W’s wholly owned ISP, is the only customer using this service. As part of the rollout team I was responsible for implementing and ensuring the faultless performance of all Bulldog circuits. This involved liaising with Bulldog, C&W and various outsourcers. The NGN Network was created using Cisco CRS-1 Routers as the main hubs and Alcatel 7750’s as nodes. The majority of my day was spent configuring, testing and upgrading circuits on Alcatel’s 5620 SAM interface. I was also responsible for training new engineers on how to use this interface.• BSI Audit Project. The Management Team was informed that the British Standard Institute (BSI) would be evaluating our department. My team leader was given the responsibility of organizing the visit and preparing all documentation, which responsibility he then delegated to me. I created and an implemented procedure to ensure C&W passed the BSI audit and was awarded for my performance on this project. The lead BSI assessor said “… in the 6 years that I have been assessing C&W in the UK, it was probably the best visit that I have ever seen”.• Capita & National Blood Projects. Due to the poor condition of Capita’s & National Blood network, Capita & National Blood threatened to cancel the C&W multi million pound contracts. Two projects were implemented to rectify this as quickly as possible. My role in both projects was to gain the confidence of the Capita & National Blood management team, liaise between them and the C&W project team to identify all problems and then ensure the IP engineers implemented a total network overhaul. The project was a success and Capita & National Blood both retained their contract with C&W. Show less
