      Field Services Engineer

This is a mobile service technician role where Iwas expected to manage my workload and organise my work in a way that is best for the business in terms of both downtime and cost savings from travel expenses and loss of sale. The job mainly consisted of electrical and mechanical work such as tracing faults on various electrical control systems on ovens, provers, mixers, packing machines and certain bread plant. The mechanical side was fairly basic however and the replacement of pumps, motors, basic plumbing, and the replacement of bearings and bushes on moving equipment.I really took a hold of my service area and the way in which the team I was in is working within the business.I worked alongside my colleagues sharing my experience in a more in-depth capacity than they’re used to and I feel that I made an improvement not only on myself but on the others in the team. The management noticed this and now requested that I train the new technicians despite me being in the job less time than a lot of the other engineers.I was especially praised for my communication skills as it made the flow of work greatly increase and the opinion of Tesco Maintenance of a service provider to the stores I worked in much higher than previous times. In my role working as a multi skilled maintenance engineer I am supporting the SHEQ manager in running the engineering department. Controlling and managing facilities maintenance, Training apprentices maintaining a training matrix to enable constant improvement through the team, liasing with contractors, designing and implementing improvement projects including external contractors, creating SOPs, running a new PPM schedule which I have worked hard to develop and train out to staff to ensure all aspects of wearing machinery is covered and the effects of this new system is being tracked to ensure effectiveness, maintaining a machinery breakdown log to ensure that all downtime and engineering time is logged and able to be used to set KPIs year on year to show the progression within the department. This combined with day to day duties of maintaining and repairing the extrusion machinery and ancillary equipment and seeing to all engineering based site requirements. I have also since joining Plastipack implemented a variety of new manufacturing techniques to aid quality and health and safety in the work place, drawn from my past experiences in extrusion.
