      Mehar Foundation is an open rehabilitation centre and the first of its kind in India; Founded by Dr Abhimanyu Rampal to help people suffering from substance abuse.From children to elderly people, people from different backgrounds were living together in this rehabilitation centre. I was assigned one patient (M, 28) who was suffering from extreme drug abuse and addiction. My role was to assess and take his case history, counsel, and provide group therapy with a trained psychologist.

I interned with Dr Hardeep Singh and Dr Suman Gupta. As a dedicated Drug Rehabilitation Intern, I was actively involved in the compassionate and evidence-based care provided to individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders. Working collaboratively with experienced professionals, my role encompasses a range of responsibilities aimed at supporting clients in their path to sobriety and improved well-being.👥 Key Responsibilities:Individual Counseling: Conducting one-on-one counselling sessions to assess clients' substance use history, mental health, and personal goals, applying motivational interviewing techniques to foster engagement and commitment to recovery.Group Therapy Facilitation: Assisting in the planning and implementation of group therapy sessions, creating a supportive and therapeutic environment for clients to share experiences, learn coping skills, and build a sense of community.Psychoeducation: Providing educational sessions on the neurobiology of addiction, relapse prevention strategies, and the importance of ongoing support networks in maintaining sobriety.Crisis Intervention: Responding promptly and effectively to crises, employing de-escalation techniques, and liaising with the treatment team to ensure the safety and well-being of clients.Progress Monitoring: Regularly assessing and documenting clients' progress, adjusting treatment plans as needed, and communicating with the treatment team to maintain a comprehensive understanding of each client's journey.
