Chairperson, Board of Trustees, Childplayworks (Charitable Trust)

ChildPlayWorks is a Charitable Trust that delivers child-centred play therapy (CCPT) training and services throughout New Zealand. (https://www.childplayworks.com)The philosophy of Child-Centered Play Therapy:•Children possess an innate capacity to strive towards their growth and maturity.•The unique therapeutic relationship built between the child and the therapist facilitates inner emotional growth and develops a child’s positive self-image.•Child-Centered Play Therapy is non-directive with this being adult-facilitated but child-led.The team at ChildPlayWorks has developed a comprehensive training programme which is focused on the Child-Centered Play Therapy approach for working therapeutically with children. The training programme can be completed in 3 years and consists of 3 Stages, consecutively built over 7 modules. Additionally, ChildPlayWorks provides CCPT to tamariki throughout Aotearoa who need support but who don't meet the criterion required for funded therapeutic support via the public sector. We seek charitable funding from our incredible donors and use this to provide CCPT services (play therapy and filial therapy) directly into our communities via our amazing network of highly skilled graduates. This is an exciting and critically important part of our work. The ChildPlayWorks Board is comprised of key people throughout Aotearoa who hold skills and experience relevant and appropriate to Childplayworks' philosophy, goals and purposes. Show less
