  As a Battalion Chief my job duties may include serving as a Shift Commander, managing, directing, and organizing the responses, readiness, and activities of an assigned 24-hour shift. As a Battalion Chief, I am responsible for oversight and management of 5 stations that house: 2 Ladder Companies, Squad, Hazardous Materials Unit, Utility truck, Battalion Chief/ISO and assigned personnel. I Coordinate manpower and technical resources to provide 24-hour fire suppression and emergency medical services. I interpret and apply departmental policies and procedures. My main purpose is to respond to major fire and medical emergencies as part of the command team where I take command of personnel, equipment and direct their activities. I coordinate the activities of the Special Operations teams including training and supervising the response team, administering the budget, purchasing equipment, and providing technical support to the Hazardous Materials and Technical Rescue Units.   Proudly serving as the fire chief to protect and serve the citizens of the Harquahala Valley, successfully implemented policy and procedures and help facilitate the districts first MOU. l facilitate Capital Outlay acquisitions and manage an annual budget of 1.8 million. Our district provides fire service to an area covering approximately 430 square miles. The department currently has 14 full time employees and 20 reserves.
