  During my time as an SPI, I have completed multiple fellowship research projects with staff partners, conducting research into efficacy of webcam usage during synchronous learning sessions, and into student workload and accessibility at the university. I thoroughly enjoyed working with and getting to know my staff partners and the Student Partnership team, and am very grateful to have had the opportunity to a part of such a great team! As a result of my hard work and dedication to pedagogy and improving higher education, I achieved Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) after completing a presentation-style application piece and mapping exercise. Show less This summer long project is focused on improving and planning the Welcome Week for new students at the University of Manchester in September 2022. I worked alongside 3 other student interns to write the script and plan the route of the university campus tour, and prepare the FAQ documents for new and prospective students. During Freshers, I managed other students (AskMe Ambassadors) to ensure they arrived for their shifts, conducting regular wellbeing and attendance checkups throughout the week. Show less Worked alongside a member of staff at the University of Manchester as part of the Student Partner Internship Programme that involved gathering data that we can use to gauge whether the use or non-use of webcams has an impact on engagement during synchronous online sessions. It was an 8-month research contract that will involved assisting to develop surveys and run student and staff focus groups, as well as make suggestions based on these findings on ways engagement can be improved in an online environment. I worked on the tills and shop floor, as well as on the platform and at the site park and ride station alongside an incredible team of people to ensure all customers had the most enjoyable time possible and that the event ran smoothly.

  Following my enjoyment of the job last year and my involvement with PNP Events, I again worked at the Polar Express Train Ride at Wensleydale Railway. This year, I was given the opportunity by the Event Manager to have my own sub-team of staff (for the pre-show entertainment marquee) allocated every morning who I was in charge of ensuring they were okay and doing their jobs to the standard expected of them. I also assisted with customer service and other more general roles around the event- I even got to be supply event manager for an hour! I look forward to working with this amazing team again next year! Show less
