      The Basic Maritime Education

      The Basic Maritime Education gives a wide understanding for a future in the technical and maritime sector, where one graduates as Ordinary Seaman (Ubefaren Skibsassistent). As a part of the education I sailed onboard the Danish Training Ship DANMARK (IMO: 5086279) for seven weeks going from Frederikshavn (Denmark) to the Azores (Portugal) and back via the English Channel.

I worked well independently and in a team to solve tasks including:- Constant dialog with Captains, Agents and Customers with voyage optimization in mind.- Purchase and planning of bunkers.- Laytime calculations.- Execution of freight and hire statements.- Analyzing operational data in order to improve voyages and predict potential operational problems.- Calculating cargo freight & hire rates in spot and forward freight & time-charter markets.- Controlling: keeping a close and constant dialog with the Accounting department in order to finalize freight & hire statements along with finalization of voyagesI got the opportunity to sail onboard Falcon's head-owned Seahorse-35 type vessel M/V Cabrera (IMO: 9537977) for almost three weeks in the Baltic Sea. I participated in the daily tasks alongside vessel's crew as much as possible, which included cleaning of deck and cargo holds, basic maintenance and witnessing procedures in the engine room.
