  Doctoral studies focusing on proteins directly affecting the rate of amylodosis, a typ of aggregation associated with degenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson disease. Using a model organism, C. elegans weidentified genes affecting the rate of amyloidosis. One of them, Moag-4 or SERF1/2 in humans was found to have a strong, cell autonomous and amyloid specific effect in promoting the formation of amyloid fibrils.The work used methods from several fields such as biochemistry, genetics and biophysics with emphasis on the former. This also included method development for rapid screening and identification of protein aggregate intermediates.
