TLDR : Supported 40 organisations with their IT infrastructure I was a founding member of the Bristol IT Co-Op(1999) as a low cost alternative to then IT support resources that charities and third sector organisations had previously used. We consulted on and managed the IT development for over 40 organisations in Bristol - this involved myself sourcing and supplying appropriate equipment and software, structured cabling planning and installation, server systems administration (both windows and linux), staff training and as development progressed more and more internet services (websites, online databases and managed connection upgrades) Show less

    • Bristol wireless

      Jan 2002 - Jun 2010
      It development officer

TLDR : Free internet for BristolI joined Bristol Wireless as a volunteer in 2004. I provided management capacity for our growth strategy, technical expertise (although it was not thin on the ground) and planned and managed our community outreach and involvement. As part of the team we succeeded in building an independent community owned wireless network providing street level access in large parts of east and south Bristol, connecting over 500 homes and several community projects and businesses to the network. I helped to develop a low cost computer refurbishment project and organised and presented at conferences and events promoting our work. The highpoint of our work was partnering with Bristol City Council for the Uk Digital City bid in 2008. Bristol City council showcased our work in it’s presentation to central government, and presented the plan drawn up for investment and expansion if the city won the bid. Unfortunately we were runners up. Show less

      It development worker

TLDR: Managed the digital transformation of a busy modern charityI joined Voscur in 2006 in a new post for the organisation as ICT Development Officer. With a brief coordinating IT developments across the then 5 major charity support organisations across the city, I initiated best practice guide and support resources for over 1000 charities and community projects in the City, working closely with the Bristol Institute of Technology (formerly CISC at the University of the West of England) and their student community support teams. I promoted the use of Open Source technologies within the voluntary sector and developed expertise in Wordpress and Drupal and in web based CiviCRM. As the web site manager I was able to influence the direction of the business strategy to move more services online and automate many of our administrative business operations through our website. Voscur’s website and CiviCRM database were seen as the gold standard at the turn of the decade in the voluntary sector and we spent much time (and created a revenue stream) offering my expertise and advising similar organisations. • Circle interactive

      Jan 2009 - Mar 2017
Drupal & civicrm trainer & developer

I was recruited by Circle Interactive in 2009 to provide additional web development support and training for their customers as they expanded. Each client needed extensive analysis of their business and collaboration to build in automation for membership self-services, event management, fundraising, case management, communications and commercial processes.I was involved in developing solutions for managing the work of organisations within a variety of sectors from poorly funded charities servicing among other projects, children's needs, drug dependency and disability concerns, to large well financed research organisations in the technical sector.I also developed training regimens for client staff to help manage the roll out process, which eventually developed into a full range generic training program for using and administering Drupal and CiviCRM. I worked closely with some of our major clients on big projects such as Healthwatch UK and the Green Party. Show less

Luckily I have other skills too :)
