  The TEACH Foundation was formed in 2011 to oversee the Partners for Unparalleled Local Scholastic Excellence (PULSE) initiative. PULSE is a public-private partnership formed to implement a comprehensive education program in Hartsville public schools that expands curriculum opportunities and further improves student achievement through collaborative academic and social development initiatives. Partners include the Darlington County School District, Coker College, SC Governor's School for Science and Mathematics (GSSM), and Sonoco. The funder closed the Foundation in 2020.Programs include accelerated learning opportunities (ALO) at Coker College and GSSM for students at Hartsville High School. At the elementary level programs include Jumpstart, Children First in partnership with the Darlington County Community Action Agency Head Start and the Yale University Comer School Development Program (SDP) in four area schools.   GMH! has entertained Hartsville residents since February 2011. Poplava hosts the program that airs live from the heart of downtown Hartsville every Wed. morning from 8am-9am at the Midnight Rooster Coffee Shop. Show features on-air guests sharing local news and activities and in-depth interviews with local celebrities.
