  Cash and Bank; Reporting to the Management Accountant, I was responsible for bookkeeping; I manually captured daily receipts, which included license fees and penalties. I also ensured that at the end of the day, cash and check on hand matched cashbook balances. I also ensured that daily receipts were banked within 24 hours of receipts and carried out bank reconciliations at the end of every month to account for discrepancies between cashbook balances and bank account balance. Imprest Maintenance; I maintained the Imprest account and regularly requested for reimbursement as and when the levels would necessitate such a request. This was achieved by compiling statements of expenditure of previously requested for amounts and ensuring that all payments were supported, authorized and on company business Monthly trial balance; I assisted in producing the monthly trial balance by verifying that all entries were accurate by tracing the entries from journals through the ledgers.   Production Planning and Scheduling; I was part of the team that coordinated the inbound logistics of raw materials to satisfy the Materials Requirements Plan (MRP) and meet daily, monthly and ultimately annual Copper production targets. Budgetary Control/ Process Costing; To ensure that production costs were within budgeted cost per unit, I employed Process-costing techniques and subsequently carried out a variance analysis (for any adverse variances). I also addressed root causes of variances and proposed remedial measures. Production Reporting; I reported on daily production information at the end of my working shifts. This included areas such as actual production, turnaround time by suppliers as well as safety reports. Stock –taking and Verification; On a daily basis, I verified received and piled raw materials for quality and quantity as per accompanying documentation.Project monitoring; I inspected installations for design specifications and prepared exception reports. These reports highlighted variabilities beyond defined allowable tolerances. The inspections were carried out by comparing a standard checklist of specifications to the actual, considering aspects of cost, quality and time. Any differences noted were reported to the project manager and I then followed up to ensure that remediation was done. Designed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs); I was part of a team that designed Standard Operating Procedures for Nchanga Smelter project. The basis of this exercise was to formulate operating standards that would not only be compliant with international standard practices such as International Standard Organization (ISO 1400 particularly) but also Zambian legislation in the areas of Mining and Employee safety.
