      Fostering and Adoption Service

Over three years with Barnardo’s Cymru, I provided administrative support across multiple services, with the last 18 months dedicated to the Fostering and Adoption Service. In this role, I ensured the smooth running of operations through efficient coordination, communication, and record management. Alongside my administrative responsibilities, I volunteered as a Mentor, supporting two teenage boys in care. This deeply rewarding experience inspired my transition to working directly within the care sector, driven by a passion to improve outcomes for children and young people. Show less

Show less As an Adoption Services Development Officer, I played a pivotal role in supporting families throughout the adoption journey, ensuring the successful placement of children with their forever families. My responsibilities spanned the entire process, from engaging with prospective adopters at the initial inquiry stage to managing a caseload of adoption support cases. This comprehensive involvement allowed me to build strong, trusting relationships with families, providing guidance and support at every step of their adoption experience. My role exemplifies my dedication to fostering positive outcomes for children and families.Key responsibilities• First Point of Contact: I was the first point of contact for families considering adoption or calling to look for support. • Supporting Families: I had a caseload of families needing post adoption support. This could be working directly with children and young people or advocating for extra support from local authority services.• Working with Stakeholders: In this role I became the agencies representative to meetings with the National Adoption Service (NAS) in their Marketing and Recruitment, and Family Finding subgroups working with local authority and other third sector colleagues. Show less In this role, I supported qualified social workers in delivering comprehensive adoption services to families. Managing a self-directed caseload, I provided consistent support to families throughout their adoption journey. Over nearly five years in this position, I demonstrated initiative and adaptability, taking on additional responsibilities that contributed to the development of new roles within the organization, which were subsequently created to recognize and expand my contributions. This experience highlights my ability to innovate, lead, and evolve within a professional setting. Show less
