  Ball n Kicka was created to provide guests to the country for the 2010 FIFA World Cup with backpacker accommodation in Johannesburg. The country was desperately short of beds for the tournament and the ‘Ball n Kicka’ took advantage of that whilst offering a good service and showing visitors a true South African experience. The ‘Ball n Kicka’ brand grew within a 4 month period into a 6 hostel enterprise that accommodated 450+ guests from 50 countries on a daily basis throughout the duration of the World Cup. The ‘Ball n Kicka’ approached owners of properties that had been utilized in the past for student accommodation and converted them into backpackers for the duration of the tournament.- I was the official translator and interpreter for Ball n Kicka - In preparation for the world cup I translated the company’s official website, all emails, brochures, letters and newsletters into Spanish and Portuguese- I assisted with the bookings and communication between the company and the foreign based tour operators and agencies - I assisted and interpreted for 450 non English speaking guests on a daily basis from different countries and cultures- I worked with the transport and tours division and coordinated tours and transportation for guests- I was responsible for managing 70 junior staff Show less

  With the World Cup in Brazil around the corner, the Ball n Kicka returned to Rio de Janeiro to get the festivities under way. We set up shop in the heart of the Samba Capital for 2 years where we did extensive research and learned about the Brazilian culture and business world. Ball n Kicka transformed into an agency in comparison to an operator for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil and represented other budget accommodation solutions. We further developed the distribution network and online booking and channel management platform that we utilized in 2010 and marketed and sold accommodation to foreign tourists attending the event. We took on the responsibility of setting up the fund in Brazil and set up shop in Rio de Janeiro in order to duplicate the holding company’s model into Latin America. The company’s strategy was to cater to a growing Brazilian student accommodation demand using alternate building technologies.Responsibilities: I was in charge of Portuguese based research of the property market infrastructure of Rio de Janeiro and its surrounding municipalities.
