  I proudly served 20 years in the Minnesota Army National Guard, trained as a Military Police and Correction Officer. I served on multiple state activation missions, providing support to our local communities in time of need. I also deployed overseas three times, serving on peacekeeping and combat support missions. The National Guard was important in my professional growth as it reinforced a strong set of values, emphasized teamwork, promoted diversity, and provided leadership opportunities.

  I supported the day-to-day operations of the front-line tellers, loan officers and support staff. I processed daily reviews and assisted in resolving issues. I assisted with month-end close processing by conducting general ledger reconciliations and creating monthly management and Board of Director financial reports. I also supported the annual financial statement audits and regulatory inspections, as needed. My experiences as an Accounting Specialist, prompted me to further accounting knowledge and obtain my Bachelor's degree in Accounting. Show less

  Supported the mission of the Minnesota Army National Guard as a Fiscal Systems Analyst for the USPFO – MN. I worked with budget managers to monitor fund usage, identify and resolve discrepancies, and conduct periodic audits. I also provided technical accounting advice to other areas of the Guard based on current regulations and policies. During my time at the USPFO-MN, I was part of a two person team responsible for researching and processing a pay correction for over 2500 soldiers under a tight deadline. My time as a Fiscal Systems Analyst provided me the opportunity to better understand fund and governmental accounting and continue to support the MN Army National Guard. Show less

I coordinate with the external financial statement audit and tax filing teams, bank representatives, and insurance agents. I am also responsible for ensuring financial controls, researching and implementing department efficiency, accounting for acquisitions, and supporting accounting related needs of management.
