Perform bug troubleshooting and fixes.Major involvments:- Main author for user need analysis document involving major system enhancement- Provided, manipulated and processed various road-related data layers for new project in development stage (usually utilising ArcGIS tools to automate)- Involved in 2 big stages of migration of Singapore expressway equipment- Involved in major road map updates in 2016 and early 2017 such as Buroh flyover, Tuas West viaduct, KPE slip road exit and Sentosa Gateway TunnelScale of project:- Handled and maintained over 170 data layers (feature classes), with main road layers having a coverage of the entire Singapore with close to 60000 records, each with important fields used by application to generate different outcomes. Also maintains multiple .lyr files containing various configurations of definition queries and symbologies used for each feature class- Handled and maintained multiple Oracle database tables which requires information derived from maps but used in . Requires writing SQL scripts to update them Nature of job:- Made a 1-for-1 replacement of a senior software engineer position with 25 years of software experience and 6 years in the company- Had to be very independent since limited guidance is available (had to devise plan and troubleshoot problems within limited time on GIS matters) - Able to be resourceful and creative and source for and utilise various GIS ArcMap ArcToolbox tools to use to enhance and automate processes- Main project contains a massive system involving multiple modules interacting with the GIS module in the application and hence the need for basic understanding of system architecture- Main project’s system running for close to 15 years running on ArcGIS 8.3 and the need to troubleshoot crashes and provide support on various forms of bug fixes Show less

  1) Perform annotation/digitization work for HD maps of roads for autonomous cars: one north (Singapore), other LTA approved roads, Boston (USA) maps, various test tracks and virtual maps2) Update and adjust maps as necessary whenever there are permanent road feature changes3) Utilizing various validation tools and an in-house simulation software as additional steps for validation4) Review map data changes done by teammates to ensure that they are well-validated 5) Provide support to the operations team by making map fixes, adjustments and hacks to assist other teams such as planner, controls and perception who consume map data. This includes support for demos and LTA milestone tests.6) Liaise and work with the operations team to schedule tests to validate map-related changes, participating in the autonomous drives, or review manual or autodrives log files7) Being the first point of contact for all map related queries, bug reporting and change requests from the operations team and other departments8) Process map resources and create pull requests in Github to ensure that all map data are updated, while also the point of contact to review other map-related pull requests as a code owner for map files9) Lead and host weekly team meeting of five across Singapore and US to go through weekly tasks (Scrum style)10) Create and manage tickets in a ticket management system (JIRA) for the team, to ensure all tasks in the team are systematically tracked, recorded and followed up11) Work closely with map software developers to replicate and report software bugs and map data issues (such as corrupted data) and other internal system issues for processing tools, while also making feature requests12) Initiate and help to give input to improve the general workflow for both software annotation and mapping operations, and document down the best practices13) Give introductions to map operations to colleagues and guests, and conduct training for new staff Show less
