      In charge of the development of a surrogate model based optimization for hull shapes.An optimization method for hull shapes has been developed by van Oossanen. This Method has a surrogate model based approach to the hull shape optimization using a limited number of CFD evaluations given the constraints. The developed routine consists of all the required elements for a fully automated optimization. The tool is aimed at the hydrodynamic optimization of different kind of hull shapes and hull shape details such as a bulb. The aim of this internship was to proof successful application of the proposed method to more industrial applications. Several optimization method using Co-Kriging were studied. Show less

      CFD Analysis of Cavitation Dynamics in a converging nozzle.Marine and offshore industry has a strong interest in the assessment of cavitation erosion risk at an early design stage, not only to avoid exhaustive maintenance costs, but also to include cavitation risk as a design parameter in design optimisation.This Master Thesis aim is to reproduce characteristic cavitation dynamics such as Bubbly Shock and re-Entrant Jet mechanism by CFD computations. A transition regime from the bubbly shocks to the re-entrant jet dominated regime is identified and compared to experimental findings. Show less
