  Eric Lawton represents businesses and individuals in complex civil litigation, with an emphasis on the representation of policyholders in insurance disputes. A seasoned advocate with over 35 years of experience, he has obtained litigation victories and successful settlements in a broad range of matters, including insurance coverage, bad faith, unfair business practices, duties to defend, indemnify and/or pay benefits, in matters involving a wide variety of coverage types, claims, and industries. These include commercial general liability (CGL), directors and officers liability, professional liability, broker liability, auto liability, property & casualty and workers compensation insurance. He provides advice and strategies that identify coverage, protect against unnecessary losses, and secure revenue from insurance through litigation and alternative means. He also represents clients in business litigation including contract disputes and business torts . Mr. Lawton’s practice has a particular emphasis on representation of employers in disputes with workers compensation insurers regarding premiums, rates, classification codes, independent contractors, claims handling and reserving, payroll audits and violations of law in the manner of assessing premiums, He advocates the employers’ right to be treated fairly by their insurer, and to sue their carrier for bad faith conduct which results in unjustifiable premium increases. He has helped California employers save millions of dollars in workers' comp insurance premiums and recover millions of dollars in damages.   Eric Lawton is an award-winning fine art photographer, writer, and visual artist whose work has been exhibited and published throughout the world. His art is in numerous private, corporate, and public collections including the Skirball Museum, the International Photography Museum, the New York Public Library, and the Bibliotheque Nationale in Paris. His multimedia theatrical work has included visual montages with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra at the Hollywood Bowl. One of Eric’s writings was quoted by Susan Sarandon during the 75th Academy Awards. His recent portfolio, Event Horizon, was awarded First Prize for book projects at the Palm Springs Photography Festival and was exhibited at the Annenberg Space for Photography. His books include The Soul of the World (HarperCollins), The Soul Aflame (Conari Press). His recent book, Event Horizon, published by Nazraeli Press, received the International Photography (IPA) Award for fine art photography books and was exhibited at the House of Lucie Gallery (Lucie Foundation) in Los Angeles. Eric Is the recipient of numerous awards, including The International Photography (“IPA”) Awards, and Communication Arts’ Award of Excellence.
