  As a Customer Service Professional, I work in an inbound call center, providing customer support to Blue Cross Blue Shield members of North Carolina. The primary group I service are state employees. I work with both active employees and retirees. To be effective in this position I am responsible for learning about new products and services before they are introduced to the marketplace. Responsibilities include working directly with clients to ensure members understand the benefits and services provided by their plan and answer any questions regarding those benefits.In addition, I also review claims members to ensure accuracy and resolve any issues, which often requires working with providers. To effectively service the client, I employ active listening skills to clarify and confirm the issue with the client. Once the issue is defined, additional probing is required to gain useful data that may assist with resolving the issue. A service request is created for each client to record, track and ensure resolution of the issue. I access multiple internal databases to research the issue, troubleshoot with the customer and bring the issue to a swift resolution.In an effort to make the process as seamless as possible for the member, I often work with 3rd party service providers, which can include pharmacies, doctor’s offices, billing providers as well as other providers contracted by the state.I recently started working with our Retail store locations in Morrisville, Greensboro andCharlotte. In the retail locations, I work directly with independent health insurance agents toanswer members and prospective members questions regarding plan benefits, enrollment status,billing questions and application status, as well as verifying plan type and subscriber information.
