      English Language Arts/Social Studies Teacher

I taught fifth grade (2013-14), and then fourth grade (2014-15), English and Language Arts and Social Studies classes in a departmentalized intermediate school setting. I collaborated with my teammates to implement standards-based curriculum and assessments, while creating unique ways to teach concepts like grammar and history.

      Lead Teacher- Primary Classroom

I was the lead multiage teacher for the second and third grade classroom in a school that values community involvement, project-based learning, and being involved in social and environmental justice issues. I taught all academic subjects as well as Passions, a special student elective course that changed quarterly. I became invested in working with individual families to further their child's education as well as their social and emotional growth. Assessment of each child's growth was based on authentic, project-based assessment grounded in CCSS standards. Show less

      Information Services Librarian

As a part of the Information Services team, I provided friendly, timely service to community members. Whether that's helping someone find a book in the collection, answering a reference question over the phone, or recommending a book to a third-grader, information needs were a key part of my job. I was responsible for school-age programming activities such as Lego Club and storytime outreach to pre-schools. I also collaborated with librarians to develop the library's collection.

      Media Specialist

As a media specialist with three K-5 elementary school libraries, I paired a love of reading with instruction in 21st century literacies like digital citizenship and basic computer skills in a specials rotation setting. During my weekly rotations at each school, I managed three media clerks, repaired and ordered books for all grade levels, and coordinated school events such as Book Fairs to bring more resources to classroom teachers and students alike.

      Librarian

I take the title "teacher librarian" at my K-5 school seriously! With my flexible schedule, I provide library skills instruction and build a huge love of literacy in my library and throughout the school. As a future ready thinker, I also incorporate 21st century skills throughout my lessons with teachers both in and out of the library. Inquiry is my passion-- I'm always encouraging students to ask great questions and learn the skills to answer them. I also oversee special teams at the school, nurturing unique experiences for students on the news crew, robotics team, and more! Show less
