      Directed Professional Engineering Services support to the DDG 51 Shipbuilding program office (PMS 400D). Work under this program included technical review of changes planned for the FY 02 multi-year procurement, electrical systems risk reduction, Underwater Explosion (UNDEX) shock adequacy inspections and development of a new damage control system. Project Manager for the Flight Upgrade Development and Engineering Contract with PMS 400D. Major efforts included concept design of future DDG variant options, DDG 81 Shock Trial planning conduct and followup, technical and program support for the introduction of commercial switchgear, and resolution of issues associated with the Remote Minehunting System. Responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary team investigating problems with ship structure and mechanical and electrical systems, and developing solutions. Coordinated the engineering effort to resolve AEGIS Cruiser hull structural problems. Developed inspection procedures and conducted shipchecks, planned and coordinated finite element analyses, evaluated alternative strengthening concepts and provided recommendations to the Navy Program Manager.Following mine damage to USS PRINCETON (CG 59) during the Persian Gulf War, participated in the Structural Damage Assessment Team which determined the extent of damage, developed voyage repairs and planned permanent repairs.       Led the development of the DDG 1000 Design Build and Process Specification, the key technical document defining requirements for detail design, production, integration and test of the DDG 1000 ship, installed systems and software. Developed plans, schedules, and budgets for specification preparation, review and approval activities. Coordinated a multi-disciplinary team of specification section authors from a range of DDG 1000 National Team organizations.Chaired configuration management meetings. Approved Change Requests for development as Baseline Change Proposals. Coordinated Total Ship Systems Engineering input to contract change requests. Change orders scoped and processed included a major change to the Dual Band Radar, introduction of an imagery and intelligence system and major modifications to the DD(X) Engineering Development Models.
