The program promotes client-centered practices such as using a strength based approach, motivational interviewing and practicing cultural humility. Special areas of study for me include facilitating trainings, youth advocacy, and working with people who live with or are affected by HIV and/or Hep C.

      My internship location was at the COVID 19 test site at Crocker Amazon Park. I met the needs of the community during that time by signing people in who came to get tested, setting up vaccination appointments, and referring people to services such as food, housing, legal, and rental assistance. I also had the opportunity to answer questions that people had about being tested and the vaccine. Last, I listened to the fears, experiences, and triumphs of the communities we served.
