  My role at Receipt Benckiser revolved around research for one of their key worldwide brands. I carried out experimental work and wrote reports. The key focus of this research was on improving the environmental impact of the brand, without reducing the performance of the products. I was also responsible for ensuring that the deionised water machine in department was maintained.

  I carried out postgraduate research, looking into the correlation between electrical properties of semiconductor surfaces and the wavelength of light shining on them. This research was carried out using scanning probe microscopy, electrostatic force microscopy in particular, with additional information gathered using scanning electron microscopy.Alongside my general research, I was also the health and safety rep for the solar research group lab.   I worked in the Finance office at Leeds University Union, managing Clubs and Societies finances. I assisted with management of their budgets, and how their finances could be improved. The role covered many aspects within financial accounting such as purchase ledger, sales ledger, nominal journals and P&Ls. I also managed the Grant Application process for LUU Clubs and Societies.I successfully ran the project for the launch of the online portal for payment requests, removing the need for paper forms. Show less My role was front of house for all enquiries relating to clubs and societies at Leeds University Union. This part of the role involved answering e-mails, taking telephone calls and issuing DBS application forms to students at the University of Leeds. The second half of this role involved supporting the Development Coordinators in the Student Activities office, which involved arranging meetings with clubs and societies, sorting out paperwork and also creating new procedures so that their everyday jobs ran as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
