      Jul 2016 - Aug 2016
      NCS Youth Support Worker

      • Actively managed a dynamic group of young people aged 15-17 in order to deliver the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme - I achieved this by engaging with all of the young people as individuals rather than one large group, and I encouraged participation in group discussions. • Increased the confidence of the young people - Over the four weeks programme, I observed a difference from the young people between beginning of the programme and the end. I supported their journey to increase their confidence and self-believe by appreciating their contributions and genuinely believing in their abilities when they began to doubt them. • Generated my own agenda- My manager provided me with more responsibility then originally outlined in the job description. I often supervised the young people alone, without the presence of my manager and I worked independently delivering my agenda to ensure that tasks were completed. Achievements: • Due to my high quality performance, I was asked to work an additional two weeks with a group in Clacton, on their last 2 weeks of the program. Show less

    • Hertfordshire Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (HPFT)

      Sept 2016 - Jan 2017
      Honorary Assistant Psychologist

      • Helped with the promotion of the service- I achieved this by attending networking events and engaging with the local community to promote the free services offered by Health in Mind. I attended several networking events including an event run by AgeUK and events run by local libraries. I also worked directly alongside the Service Manager and a Hertfordshire Foundation Trust Marketing Officer to identify ways in which the service could develop new networks and contacts with key groups across the local area. This was to increase community engagement, promote the service and increase awareness of how to maintain healthy wellbeing. • Organised and presented stress management workshops - I ran three stress management workshops individually with a Mental Health Society and two for diabetes support groups. I worked in conjunction with another colleague to deliver stress management workshops to volunteers for a local charity. I adapted the content of the presentation accordingly to reflect the needs of different audiences, and I also adapted my style of presenting when faced with more challenging audiences. • Analysed data- I analysed data from GAD-7 and PHQ-9 questionnaires filled out by patients in workshops and weekly group therapy session. Achievements: • Networked with the Head of Workplace Health and Wellbeing at the University of Essex and initiated a relationship between Health in Mind and Occupational Health at the University. • Through networking and introducing the Health in Mind Service Manager to the Senior Faculty Employability Manager of Science and Health at the University of Essex, a placement year has been established, where second year psychology students can spend one year out of their students to work at Health in Mind if they are interested in gaining some valuable, clinical experience. Specialist Student Mentor

      • Worked one-to-one with students with mental health conditions or autistic spectrum disorders to support them in their learning and all other aspects of their college lives. • I worked independently- as the only person in my role, I took responsibility for helping students. I organised each session based on the requirements and needs of each individual student and ensured that they were receiving guidance from other areas of student support when/if it was needed. • Promoted a positive sense of self-worth and independence amongst mentees- I achieved this by reminding students of their entitlements, abilities and achievements. I also providing students with advice and encouraged then to take an active stance in their college lives. Achievements: • I encouraged my mentees to continue studying at the Institute when they were unconfident in their own abilities and were determine to leave. I achieved this by reminding them of their achievements and helping them map out their futures in order to show them that their objectives were achievable. Show less
