    • Academy Prep Center of Tampa

      May 2020 - Sept 2022
      Spanish Teacher

Engaging, passionate, and creative Spanish teacher at a non-profit private middle school in Ybor City, Florida. As an AmeriCorps Specialist teacher I offered a Spanish Club enrichment, which paved the way for the creation of the first ever Spanish course for the 7th and 8th grade students at Academy Prep Center of Tampa. This new opportunity provided me with valuable curriculum building, activity planning, and resource selections skills. As a Spanish teacher I have emphasized the importance of cultural understanding through music, dance, food, and even online geo-field trips. My students leave with a confidence to speak the Spanish language, not for their own personal perfection, but for the sense of community and understanding that we built inside of the classroom. My passion for culture did not remain inside of the classroom. I spear-headed the first ever Hispanic Heritage Month celebration with cultural performances, educational seminars, and over 10 guest speakers. Additionally, I organized, planned, and facilitated the school-wide cultural celebration, coordinating activities with 30 volunteers and 10 community partners. I am dedicated to sharing culture, language, and experiences through activities, performances, and large events. Show less
