  Production Engineer

  Thanlyin Glass Factory is one of the factories under the Ministry of Industry of the Myanmar Government. They mainly focus on container glass production for the Myanmar glass bottle market. This is my first job as a government servant after getting Bachelor of Engineering. My work included: - Worked as a Junior Engineer in the Electrical Department, responsible for monitoring the electrical breakdown and checking the electrical control of the whole factory, supporting the electrical service team. - Then, promoted as the supervisor of the Mechanical workshop, leading the mechanic team of about 6 well-experienced skilled workers for the repair and maintenance of all types of machinery in the factory including mechanical failures such as silo of the raw materials, grinding machines, and all motors. - Apart from that, sometimes work as a sketcher for the modified mechanical drawing of factory machines for the renovation of the factory by using AutoCAD Software.   Product Designer

  Proximity Designs is a not-for-profit social enterprise working to help reduce poverty for rural families in Myanmar. They design and deliver affordable products and services, for income-boosting for Farmers. While working as a government staff, I got a chance to be part of the very exciting and challenging product design team of Proximity, which is led by professional American Designers, as a mechanical product designer. That was the most enjoyable job in my life since I was learning and working enthusiast for the people of Myanmar. Responsibilities as Product Designer in the Proximity Team:- Implemented the existing design modification depending on the voice of customers- Created some customized injection mold designs required for the new treadle pump and the necessary accessories for that pump, using Solidworks 3D software. - Participated in the prototyping process of some production jigs and fixtures and implemented concept generation by our design team- Created the mold drawings with reasonable tolerance, communicated with local mold makers as the team representatives, and handled contract terms, and conditions negotiation. - Besides, designed the work floor plan for the mass production of new products and “the Water Basket” using Rubber sheets in the Design workshop, using Microsoft Visio software- Participated actively in team improvement projects to nurture the skills of the team members, as well as personal improvement projects such as making the team working space more effective use - One of the remarkable activities with Proximity Designs was the participation in the new product development of the treadle pump “Baby Buffalo” in the joint project with professional designers from IDEO (https:// www.linkedin.com/company/ideo.)   Due to the political situation in Myanmar, BG built a new factory in Thailand only and I was assigned to support the procurement team as the global specialist thanks to my communication and negotiation skills. - Especially taking care of cullet-sourcing from Myanmar - Implemented surveys regarding the suppliers from local (Thailand) and foreign countries for all raw materials required for glass production- Requested quotations from different suppliers, and implemented screening processes, performing good practice of global vendor relations and communication as the international procurement expert. While working in Proximity Design, I won a full scholarship from the Norwegian Government to continue my master degree in Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at the Asian Institute of Technology. Then, I was scouted to Bangkok Glass for their upcoming glass factory project in Myanmar thanks to my previous experiences and my technical & education skills. While in BG, my duties are as below: - Started as a trainee in Thailand's head plant in Pathumthani, Bangkok, then worked as a production engineer for about 7 months there, including training in different packaging factories of Bangkok Glass. - Then, reallocated to Myanmar to become a key person for project planning for the new glass factory project- In Myanmar, worked as the local representative for the Myanmar market, supporting the sales and marketing activities between Myanmar clients and the Bangkok team, including arrangements for the export/import activities and sales contracts. - Implemented market research and analysis related not only to the Myanmar container glass market but also to the potential float glass market. - In addition, conducted the procurement and sourcing of the required raw materials (mostly culets) from local suppliers, exporting them to Thailand for BG glass factories.
