  In the thesis entitled "New factors involved in the development of the physiological and cardiac adaptations during pregnancy" we showed how FGF21 does not only protect against pathological hypertrophy, but also is a fundamental factor required for the physiologically occurring gestational hypertrophy. We also show that C/EBPβ is another needed factor for the same process to take place. Any alteration involving these two factor may compromise the normally and physiologically occurring gestational cardiac hypertrophy. Show less
