  Engineering Assistant

  I was an engineering assistant for three summers in the materials lab where I preformed field and lab tests on concrete, asphalt, aggregate and soil. While performing field tests I became familiar with construction practices through interaction with the project contractors and inspectors. I also assisted project inspectors with on site tonnage of asphalt and aggregate, and assisted with flagging road traffic.

  Laboratory Technician

  I was a temporary employee in the asphalt section of the central materials lab. My primary responsibility was testing emulsified oil samples. I was also responsible for entering and submitting the test results. Occasionally I assisted co-workers in other areas of the lab including petroleum, bituminous and aggregate. I also worked closely with pavement design engineers creating spreadsheets on correlation between similar tests.
