The RLS UG Project base scope budget is US$2.1 Billion comprising the design and construction of the underground works below central Doha, including 6 underground stations, 3 switchboxes, 1 Mid-Tunnel Ventilation Shaft (MTVS), and auxiliary structures between the Msheireb Underground Central Station and the new Doha Hamad International Airport. The RLS UG package comprises 32 km of bored twin tunnels at an average depth of 25 meters below ground level utilizing five tunnel boring machines (TBM) simultaneously. The maximum depth point will approximately reach 50 m below ground level. The Project has achieved structural construction progress SPI of 0.9 in all the stations, and SPI of 1.00 for the tunnel boring activities with 5 TBMs working simultaneously. MEP, Architectural Finishes, and Testing and Commissioning are yet to commence.Qatar Rail is responsible for the design, procurement, construction and delivery of major tunnels and stations. The US$40 Billion rail network planned for the State of Qatar integrates a 4-Line Metro comprising 37 elevated stations, 10 underground stations, 73 km of railway viaduct, 119 km of tunnel, 166 km of at grade track, depots, power substations, and 160 footbridge spans with a high-speed passenger rail, freight, a people mover and light rail. It will deliver a fast, convenient, world-class, state-of-the-art, fully integrated railway system to support the Qatar 2030 Vision plan. The Doha Metro system will be in full service operations mode ready to support the logistics of the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup. Show less
