  Served as Assistant Director of the Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs Division of the Office of the United Nations and other International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines (Home Office).Currently works at the Philippine Mission to the United Nations in New York as Third Secretary, Election Officer and UN Fifth Committee Expert covering administrative and budgetary aspects of the United Nations and its operations. The Committee approves financial arrangements with UN specialized agencies, and considers financing of various UN peacekeeping operations (https://www.un.int/philippines/staff/ms-marivil-v-valles) and other development-related issues.Supervises entry level and secondary level staff involved in research, analytical and clerical work; drafts reports, Philippine statements, speeches, various correspondences, position papers, talking points and pertinent resolutions; attends local and international meetings and conferences; and coordinates with government agencies and diplomatic missions on matters pertaining to the mandate of the Fifth Committee; Also assists the Assistant Secretaries, Undersecretaries, and the Minister of Foreign Affairs in coordinating with other Offices on relevant issues. As Election Officer of the Philippine Mission, conducts campaigns and recommends campaign strategies to secure Philippine candidatures and elections, both at the country- and personal- levels, in various UN bodies and international organizations.
