  I was twenty when I with my friends started a business of trading second-hand cars from Japan. I took charge of the supply & logistics and sales responsibilities, while some took care of marketing, legislative and financial responsibilities. Unfortunately, after 2008 crisis, as banks stopped giving car loans we did not receive orders anymore so we quit trading. The business was not a “big success” long term, but I earned a lot experience in terms business insights and interpersonal relationships while relating to our customers, along with this I had enough income to pay for my master’s studies and buy myself a car, which at the time provided big boost for my self-confidence.   After successfully leading my project as a manager, I was promoted to the position and was assigned to reorganize the department into more organized and concentrated structure. I believe we were successful in this trial.Tasks: Planning, coordinating and supervising all of the projects assigned to “GAC” by the Ministry of Agriculture of Georgia. Organization of a workflow, assuring the efficiency, supervising the operations, creating and developing management team, supervising financial, legislative and operational document flow, negotiation with key clients and suppliers, analyzing the information and creating statistical data of the processes undertaken by the department. Managerial and financial report writing.Accomplishments: The average harvesting amount per day was considered 25 tons per day at “GAC”. In my project, I managed to raise this amount to 150 tons per day. By increasing the number of harvesting machines to 6 and hired workers up to 200 people per day, which was considered to be unmanageable in the organization, along with the increase in output we also managed to increase the efficiency of harvesting operations.Unlike other project managers in the organization, I took charge of both – managerial and operational processes, which gave me better perspectives for optimization opportunities of the workflow and organization as a whole.Due to being committed to the work, all the key clients and suppliers of our organization demanded that I was put in charge of the tasks related to them. Monitoring and benchmarking supplier performance. Show less The research was a cooperation between Tallinn University of Technology and Ericsson. The purpose was to study the production process and create a concept and methodology for reforming the existent linear production system into cellular manufacturing layout for achieving flexibility in production.Multiple tasks were to be resolved to deliver needed result and I was participating in almost every ongoing process of the research. The main assignment given to me by the project manager was to study the tools that were being used in the production process and create an easily manipulatable data to suit the tools to our new concept needs. The task was complicated with many variables and lots of small details needing attention but with help from Ericsson engineers and some concentration of efforts I managed to close it up in two weeks. My next assignment was to create the conceptual framework for layout change including all the problems, shortcomings, bottlenecks, constraints and main ideas standing behind clustering the assembly line.Due to the fact that I was the first to resolve my research assignments the manager instructed me to help other researchers in their tasks, thus, I was lucky enough to receive a possibility to participate in every section of the research, including internal &external logistics, product and production flow, assembly stages, workbenches and operators. etc. Show less
