HR Business Development - Engagement Manager Support

During my placement year from University I undertook work experience with IBM. My role was within HR Business Development as Engagement Manager support, supporting a team of managers in the movement of employees through Acquisitions, Outsourcing and Divestments. Engagement is all about the first side of a deal - the costings of employees, answering questions for clients and creating the transition process for when employees transfer, and all of this is centred around the TUPE legislation. I was also involved in the transition side of the team, helping to collect data for divests and attending client visits - aiding transition managers with the collection of the relevant documentation for transfer to occur. I was further involved in data collection for a European team, developing a way to collect confidential information for managers across Europe. I greatly developed my teamwork skills as I had to adapt my working style due to my team all being mobile and in some respects global. Due to this, my communication skills also massively improved. As well as balancing my main job role I was part of the Lancaster University Campus Team where I took part in events in which I represented IBM at the university.Furthermore I was part of the IT Careers Academy core team, who planned and ran an event for all Industrial Trainee and Gap Year students at IBM. This is an event to help with each students future graduate career. Show less
