  The duties of a Resort Recreation Activities Host (internally referred to as Children's Activities, or CA) include hosting pool parties, behind the scenes set up, and hosting movie nights under the stars.Poolside duties require being on a microphone engaging with guests of all ages, and encouraging the guests to come join in the games and activities. Further duties include explaining the rules of the games, assisting with rule enforcement for lifeguards, and promoting a fun, safe atmosphere. Before the activities for the day begin, we are to set up our own equipment, and throughout the day are constantly monitoring our own sound levels, including volume, mix, and bass/treble levels.Movies Under the Stars include not only hosting and being available to answer any questions, but also the entire setup of the Audio/ Visual components, including an Open Air Cinema screen, Texas Instruments BENQ Projector, Sony Blu-Ray player, and an audio mixer connecting to speakers. This also includes the physical setup of the speakers on the stands, as well as all necessary cables.Behind the scenes duties include setting the equipment up for the next day, ensuring that the equipment cart can be rolled out at a moments notice with minimal additional setup, save for personal preferences. Show less On Main Street, I had two positions, both under the umbrella of Main Street Daily Operations. Town Square Theater, and Parade Audience Control (PAC.)Town Square Theater is a meet-and-greet experience with Disney characters. As part of the operation, the duties included engaging with guests, being knowledgeable not only of our own area, but of the Magic Kingdom and Walt Disney World as a whole, and being able to answer the questions brought to us. I also was in positions requiring me to keep accurate ratios of Standby and Fastpass guests entering the attractions, to ensure smooth flow and minimal wait times. Other tasks included keeping the stroller parking neat and tidy, and sweeping the queue for rubbish.On PAC, the main intention is to usher guests to appropriate viewing areas. Often times open areas, such as emergency walkways, are inviting spots to watch parades and shows from, so we were to assist the guests in finding appropriate locations from which to do so. In addition to this, if given a street position, I was monitering the parade route, often watching up to two hundred feet in both directions, to ensure guest safety. This includes discouraging guests from running out between floats, and watching to be sure guests remained on the sidewalks and not in the physical street itself. Show less
