      Victorian Science Talent Search Science Teachers' Association of Victoria Aug 1971 Honoured to receive 1st prize in the Victorian Open Division (Year 12 in 1971) and 3rd prize (Year 11, 1970), both for electronics projects featuring newly developed Gallium Arsenide Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs). Surprisingly, our ubiquitous LEDs (now renowned for their lighting efficiency), have actually been around since the late 1960s !
