 - Igem competitionMay 2017 - Nov 2017Student researcher- Engineering of Acyl-Homoserine Lactone Quorum-Sensing Genes in Pseudomonas Putida- Addressing the major health issue Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms pose to cystic fibrosis patients by inhibiting biofilm formation in non-pathogenic P. putida, which presents a similar quorum-sensing pathway to its pathogenic counterpart. Our findings helped elucidate some of the underlying mechanisms of pathogenicity in P. aeruginosa.Summer research project under the supervision of Dr C. Smith and Dr S. Coleman. Able to conduct in-depth literature searching and design a project with experimental procedures. Performed routine molecular cloning and in vitro protein characterization. Defended the project at the Giant Jamboree in Boston, USA. Show less

Raheem. Gained skills in routine bacterial work, reverse micelle extraction and thin layer chromatography.

Developed a first-of-its-kind triple antibody for FVIII deficiency. Research acquired by Novalgen.Master degree research project supervised by Dr V. Muczynski. Developing in-depth knowledge of molecular biology techniques, cell culture, affinity-based protein purification, SDS-page characterization with Western Blot and Coomassie Blue, and in vitro protein characterisation using haemostasis assays.
