Engineering of Acyl-Homoserine Lactone Quorum-Sensing Genes in Pseudomonas Putida- Addressing the major health issue Pseudomonas aeruginosa biofilms pose to cystic fibrosis patients by inhibiting biofilm formation in non-pathogenic P. putida, which presents a similar quorum-sensing pathway to its pathogenic counterpart. Our findings helped elucidate some of the underlying mechanisms of pathogenicity in P. aeruginosa.Summer research project under the supervision of Dr C. Smith and Dr S. Coleman. Able to conduct in-depth literature searching and design a project with experimental procedures. Performed routine molecular cloning and in vitro protein characterization.
