  In the Assistant Manager, Fleet Distribution position, I utilize many of the communication and technical abilities I was able to cultivate in my previous positions while also employing professional skills in asset allocation and management, customer service, and supply and demand forecasting. Each week, I work in conjunction with multiple other departments to review requests from customers for rail cars, and determine the optimum distribution locations and numbers. Throughout each week, I also use my knowledge of Norfolk Southern's rail network and processes to ensure the assets I manage optimize cost control and maximize efficiency while safely meeting the needs of our customers. Show less My role as Assistant Manager, HPH & Fuel Equalization allows me to take ownership over a wide range of processes and projects. Ensuring data integrity, implementing new business processes, and communicating effectively with other Class I railroads are some of the responsibilities I enjoy the most. Each month, I am charged with efficiently, effectively, and accurately settling fuel files worth millions of dollars with the other railroads we work with, including BNSF, Canadian National, Canadian Pacific, CSX, Kansas City Southern, and Union Pacific, among others. Show less As a Train Dispatcher, I have to utilize various skills in order to make decisions regarding movement of trains, track workers, and on-track equipment, but problems often arise in the rail industry and even the smallest change can necessitate a complete redo of plans made for those movements. This has allowed me to become a quick problem solver, utilizing large amounts of dynamic data to determine which movements are best for the network to optimize our key performance indicators of train speed, delay time, and network schedule adherence. In addition to train movements, I am also responsible for ordering crews, ensuring crews have the transportation and paperwork required, and communicating any problems or potential problems to my superiors.
