  The TRIO Upward Bound program selects students of color with family income below the poverty line and supports them from 9th grade through graduating from a 4 year university. When I taught, students attended class and lived on the University of Minnesota campus to simulate the experience of going to college.I engaged students in a forensic science inquiry in which they examined the evidence of a crime scene. Through the study of forensics, we covered standards in biology, chemistry, and physics, in order to prepare the incoming 9th grade students for high school science. Show less
