      Elected to serve as Co-Capitan senior year: created & developed new team foundational values & facilitated unification to lead team to the best MAC Conference finish in three years. Dedicated over 20 hours/week to intensive training with full semester course loads, as well as 10-20 additional hours/week to team activities and athletic lifestyle for 4 years. First-Team Academic All-MAC selection senior year.

      For eight weeks, I worked a vigorous 24-hour/week internship, published four in-depth stories on religion, urban planning, social justice, health services and construction, and the people therein. KosovaLive360 is one of the only non-profit, independent news sources in the Balkans.

      Achieved “Proficient” or “Accomplished” standards on every teaching evaluation measurement in first two years of teaching; Mentored multiple students 1-2 hours after school each week for 6 weeks to apply to the Friedland Foundation Scholarship, whereupon two received full ride scholarships to any in-state college of their choice. Led two 1.5 hours professional development sessions a year on ESL teaching strategies to 60 TFA Corps Members/year; created resources for teachers to use in their classroom. Show less

      Participated in a rigorous nine month seminar with a UNCC professor to enrich content area knowledge & develop an entire research-based unit of instruction for my classroom. Researched, created, and published a 46-page culturally responsive curriculum unit with a literacy focus about breaking stereotypes when teaching African conflicts. Three weeks of lesson plans and resources are available to all CMS teachers; three CMS teachers have used the unit effectively.

      Served as a teacher in a Title 1 school to a diverse group of underprivileged students in Charlotte. Students achieved 1.9 years growth on average in my first year; 58% of students passed the Social Studies end of grade test in 2nd year; 83% in 3rd year. Earned highest standards (“accomplished” or “distinguished”) on every teaching evaluation measurement 2nd & 3rd year. Grade Level Chair for 3 years. Served on School Leadership Team and Instructional Leadership Team 2nd-4th year of teaching. Show less Selected as an applicant to shadow the Superintendent, multiple CMS Executive Staff Members, Principals & Assistant Principals in a fast-paced and competitive nine-week summer fellowship. Directly mentored by Assistant Superintendent LaTarzja Henry from Community Partnerships and Family Engagement to learn how school districts implement family engagement on a systemic level. Created a change project within Community Partnerships and Family Engagement, which was presented to all of CMS Executive Staff & has been implemented at three schools in the district. As Executive Director, I am responsible for the vision, strategy, management and oversight of all operations, programming, fundraising and relationships.

      Campaign Organizer and Policy Fellow

      Worked as a campaign organizer and public policy fellow for Mike Johnston for Governor (Colorado). Organized House District 7 in Denver by setting up over 12 1-on-1 meetings, averaging over 150 calls/week with an excellent contact rate, and committed 4 citizens to host house parties for Mike’s campaign. Grew volunteer base by over 65%. Advanced renewable energy policy research by creating four policy memos and a final recommendation; all research from the memos are currently in his white paper to get Colorado to 100% Renewable Energy by 2040.
