  Led and funded by Space Trek Academy, I collaborated with a group of motivated undergraduate students to design, build and launch a high altitude balloon and the experiments within its payload. The experiments consisted of: a)the use of hydrogel as a radiation shield, b) comparing the effectiveness of different colors of polypropylene in shielding UV radiation, and c) analyzing and comparing morphological E. Coli changes in earthbound vs high altitude balloon samples. The balloon reached the stratosphere and the payload was recovered safely. We are currently working on subsequent data analysis.
