  The University of Birmingham High Performance Centre provides a range of sports science services and support to support athletes across all/any sports.In my role as a junior physiologist, I worked with elite and world-class athletes in a practical, BASES accredited laboratory setting, most commonly delivering monitored training sessions and performance tests. The role included measuring and analysing various physiological parameters in-situ (e.g. gas analysis, blood lactate samples etc.) and planning specific training, recovery and injury prevention programmes, sessions and strategies based on athletes’ physiological profiles and the latest scientific research.
