      ARMY Commendation Medal Brigade Commander Dec 2012 Specialist Gerlach's superb skills in Personnel Accounting and Strength Reporting (PASR) were necessary to analyze personnel strength as a component of combat power while deployed in support of three Network Integration Exercises (NIE). During this time he was responsible for accounting and reporting for over 3,800 Soldiers and 200 additional personnel from the Marines and Air Force during deployment and re-deployment from the NIE maintaining 100% accountability at all times.

      ARMY Commendation Medal Brigade Command Sergeant Major May 2012 Specialist Gerlach was a valuable asset to the Brigade Administrative/Logistics Operations Center (ALOC) during Network Integration Exercise (NIE) 12.2. Specialist Gerlach was the subject matter expert on the Very Small Aperture Terminal (VSAT) and Command Post Of the Future (CPOF) systems. Because of his vast knowledge of these systems, the ALOC was able to maintain constant communication with all other deployed units.
