  As Development Director for Birmingham’s only day shelter serving homeless women and children, I focused on making the organization’s fundraising a more streamlined, efficient and effective operation. Results included a more diversified funding stream, increased private foundation support, improved retention of individual donors, the start of a major gift program and the successful launch of new annual events. My achievements include:• Successfully securing $250,000 in private funding and $340,000 in United Way funding annually, matching the federal funding portion of the agency’s $1.4 million budget• Establishing the agency’s first major gift campaign, Heart & Home Society, raising $30,000-$40,000 per year• Creating a new fundraising event, Hops for Hope, with attendance tripling and revenue more than doubling between the first and second years• Overseeing the quality improvement and audience growth of all marketing efforts, including social media, email, newsletters, press coverage, brochures, speaking engagements and agency fairs• Leading the effort to develop a new agency video, which went on to receive a Silver Addy Award in 2015 from the American Advertising Federation Birmingham and was recently accepted to screen at the 17th annual Sidewalk Film Festival• Assisting with the annual United Way campaign by speaking to potential donors and community leaders about Pathways and the impact of United Way giving • Supervising the development associate/volunteer coordinator, managing all aspects of development functions and volunteer activities• Writing grants at the local and national level, securing $100,000 in private foundation funding in 2014• Assisting the board and executive director with strategic planning and capital campaign preparation as well as budgeting and income forecasting• Managing the donor stewardship program by actively engaging the board in donor acknowledgement and cultivation and by focusing on increasing donor retention.
