  Freelance Web Designer

  I designed and built websites for a number of clients, including: medium-sized construction company, commissions for bespoke websites for digitial exhibitions of art galleries (Belfast & Austria), promotional sites for one-off events, product designers and artists websites.Some key achievements & business contributions:• Promoted Lean UX methodologies leading to reduced design time and better informed designs. • Guided a construction company client through user research insights to explore new opportunities, evaluate current products, and further unlock the potential of how they delivered existing services. • Developed a new navigation structure, for above client, that was tested with users focus groups (with architects, construction contractors and home owners) against 3 other designs. Final result reduced admin work by approx. ~90% and increased requests for quotations by 20%. • All site research and design included developing detailed test plans, test scripts, user flows, user personas, and storyboards. • Led qualitative and quantitate study including face-to-face interactions with customers and usability testing leading to increased quality of results, including being commissioned with artist to create custom website for online exhibition.   Fiosracht is a collaborative initiative of Technical University Dublin (TUD) - Tallaght campus, London based social initiative Project42, Ireland’s national youth charity Foroige and South County Dublin Libraries.   Workshop Designer - South Dublin County Council Libraries

  I led a weekly Design Thinking project at the South County Dublin Library in Tallaght which introduced librarians, library staff and the public to core Design Thinking principles. The was two workshops a week, one for young people aged 7 – 11 and a two-hour introduction to HTML coding club for young people aged 9-12.Over a 4 month period I trained 3 librarians in how to deliver these STEM and Design based workshops and activities.

  Designer & Researcher at Maynooth University Innovation Lab (Mi:Lab)

  I worked with the interdisciplinary team of designers and anthropologists to identify potential projects, leading project research and development, and contribute to the development of Mi:Lab’s approach to innovation and development of design principles for higher education. In this work I developed ethnographic research skills, collaborated on peer-reviewed research articles, and researched into the development of a design mindset/approach to challenges within Maynooth University (MU).

  LAA billing Discovery to Alpha :Led on designing new solutions to standardise & simplify the 50+ complex billing processes required by legal aid providers to claim payment for their work, reducing the need to work across multiple legacy systems. Directed project scope by synthesising user research, framing and prioritising key challenges for Discovery and Alpha.LAA Payment & Finance:Worked from Discovery through to Beta to reduce risk and simplify the financial processes and systems used by the LAA to manage the £2.5 billion paid out to legal providers (solicitors and barristers) each year. I translated user research into actionable insights which I used in workshops to define project scope, shape the discovery process and resolve stakeholder conflicts. Show less - Led service design efforts on a number of discoveries to improve digital tools used by Ministry of Justice staff. This consisted of overseeing the end-to-end processes from ideation to implementation.- Led the overhaul of recruitment services at Justice Digital to meet the needs of the rapidly growing digital arm of MoJ (2,500+ employees). Including: improving workforce planning, procurement of new digital recruitment system and redesigning how all new starters are equipped with tools and onboarded into teams in Justice Digital. - Redesigned the FoI process for prisoners and ex-offenders requesting information held on them. This involved digital transformation of non-digital processes (move from paper to digital requests), new nationwide training for prison staff and establishing a clear best practice for all administrative staff in UK prisons.
