      Mechatronic Engineering: Student Intern

Through my 6 month stay at UDLAP, I studied mechatronic design and mechatronic systems of propulsion. I participated in team projects which included the design of a robotic arm for industrial purposes, as well as constructing an automated “smart house” at a small scale using Labview programming. I also participated on a project that consisted of developing a device that transfers ocean wave energy into clean electrical power. I gained knowledge and skills in mechatronic systems and energy conversion and perfected my Spanish skills through this experience. I also had the chance to build and strengthen professional and personal relationships, as well as project coordination skills during my stay in Mexico. As an Intern, I worked in a team for UDLAP’s Mechatronic department in a project to design a device that will test the product of a Mexican diaper company (MABESA). The team and I designed an oven to simulate the body heat of a baby while mechanisms inside stretch the tapes that hold together the diaper, simulating the stress the material is under while diaper being used. The design of the oven was completed using a CAD program (CATIA). . Show less
