  Preserving our pristine Dark-skies is about more than looking at the stars. Light Pollution has consequences affecting our wildlife & ecology, health, energy use and expenditure. Following research I conducted at college, I am now project manager for the "Friends of Mayo Dark Skies" steering group. We have just met the deadline for the January submission to the International Dark-Sky association in the USA and hope to achieve designation of Dark-sky Park in the late spring of 2016.

Our tours include transport, guiding service and accommodation. We also include a dark sky experience where possible such as a stargazing safaris. In winter months we provide approved Mountain Skills 1&2 courses in navigation, Leave No Trace courses for responsible recreation and Dark Sky Ranger school programmes through Heritage In Schools. Terra Firma Ireland is an socially conscious enterprise with considerable time spent on voluntary local projects such as Mayo Dark Skies Park and project and The Nephin Beg Upland Farming Scheme.
