My group, Advanced Concepts, was part of the Symantec Research Labs, with the mandate to create cutting edge high-risk/return technology that could be incorporated into Symantec’s larger product offering.During the tenure, I shouldered responsibility for managing cutting-edge software development projects for the Advanced Concepts group of Symantec Research Labs. I was accountable for conceptualizing, developing, testing and releasing innovative technologies that would become part of Symantec’s products. My role gave me opportunities to work on numerous products during the tenure including Norton Community Watch, Internet Protection System, Download Insight, Parental Controls and Safe Web.I was involved in the project from early stages starting from identification up to delivery. My role included providing periodic reporting to the group management, executive management and external stakeholders. The task of working with the legal teams to review and developing legal contracts fell under my purview.   Desta Global was an agri-tech startup focusing on providing agri-input products to rural retailers and farmers. I joined Desta to migrate it from an offline to and online platform. To that end, I spearheaded the development of 2 online properties…- DestaMart, an online B2B eCommerce portal for agricultural products & - DestaTalk, a free online information service for farmers. I played a pivotal role in turning around the operations by successfully establishing a marketing strategy and creating relevant product offerings. I developed, mentored & grew a team, ensuring high competence level, agility and willingness to learn as well as grow along with the organization. My role was pivotal in providing leadership to initiatives pertaining to transitioning from a brick-and-mortar to an online platform. I worked closely with the senior leadership to create & institutionalize a 'Vision', while at the same time ensuring agreement across the organization.While at Desta, I managed a diverse set of stakeholders including senior leadership, vendors, customers (retailers and distributors), farmers, and government/academic institutions to ensure alignment and focus on short-term as well as long-term business goals.   Harabaag exists to find and leverage farmer-centric, digital technology-enabled, money-making opportunities, in the Indian agri-business environment, such that it brings innovation to Indian farmers, improves the eco-system and makes Indian Agriculture sector more sustainable.Our primary goal was to provide market access to small holder farmers across all regions in India, so that they are able to sell their produce at the most opportune moment, at an appropriate price. Our thesis was that there is an acute lack of actionable data (WHO has planted WHAT crop WHERE), which causes both supply-side and demand-side inefficiencies, problems and disruptions.To that end, we developed online/offline channels to collect source data (about 120,000 farmers, and 300 Farmer Producer Companies), and use this data to fulfil demand from traders, wholesalers and corporate buyers.
