      Jan 2014 - May 2015

The main task of being a Library Assistant is to help patrons, so I work with people daily with the variety of needs they have when approaching my desk. This means that I need to know how to help in as many capacities as might be needed, from directing to a specific area of the library to retrieving books or other media to inputting personal records into the computer system. Routine tasks are the norm, but when someone has a specialized task or question, this requires on-the-spot problem solving and an ability to work productively with the wide variety of people who might approach me for help. Show less Organization is the priority for this position, for I would spend most of my time sorting through magazines, journals and newspapers and then returning them to their proper location. I needed to quickly learn the organizational system and complete my tasks within a certain schedule. Often times I would give myself extra work so that everything was probably arranged, because I cared more about efficiency as a whole rather than just the task before me. There was also a manual labor aspect to this job, where I learned I can tie and carry huge stacks of newspaper! Show less

      Jun 2014 - Dec 2014
      Office Intern

In the months I interned at Pall Mall, I was given a variety of tasks to quickly understand and complete on a day-to-day basis. My main task involved understanding and working with the specialized program that the company used, where I would work with the other employees and input data. This task also involved conducting research on the various artists and collectibles that we worked with. I also worked with Photoshop to edit photos, Constant Contact, and worked on the company website, along with less common tasks which required quick-thinking and immediate results. Show less

    • Main Line Art Center

      Oct 2015 - May 2019

Working at the front desk meant that I was both the face of the company and the resource for students, teachers, newcomers, and even staff to come to for any question they might have. I worked across all departments, though the main focus was on education and communications. Through this role, I would guide students and help them register for classes, sold supplies, accepted donations, and contacted them with important information regarding their classes. I also helped enter classes into the system, proofread descriptions, and contacted teachers for information. This isn't even getting into the entries for exhibitions, selling artwork, and helping artists with their installation. My Marketing Internship slowly transitioned into this position, so I continued the work of creating graphics and posters for display and in Constant Contact. I regularly updated the WordPress website and would help proofread the brochures that would be sent out each season. This was an all-around job, where I probably did a little of everything and a lot of experience came out of it. Show less As a marketing intern, I am constantly promoting the Art Center through Facebook, Instagram and listings to news outlets in the region. More significantly, I've written a great deal of the press releases and interviews that have been published in the seasonal brochures, including doing editing for the pieces I haven't written. All of these outlets require quick turnaround, so I will regularly write a dozen social media posts and an article within a day. When I'm not doing that, I help update the WordPress website, send out emails through ConstantContact, and edit images in Photoshop. Show less

      Communications Assistant

The main focus of this position was to expand our social media presence and create more regular communication with the community through various outlets, such as emails, newsletters, and festive bulletin boards. This involved posting regularly on Facebook, updating the WordPress website, and creating emails through Constant Contact. Interviews were conducted and research was done to write articles in the monthly newsletter, which I also edited and proofread. I also helped with various fundraising campaigns during this time, which involved making graphics, signs, pamphlets (done in Photoshop and iWork), and general hands-on work to get these projects going. I have transcribed hours of audio into text through this position, but it's more than that. Following the style guide that this company requires, I have proofread and conducted research in order to create the best possible product for the client that I can. This position is all about setting and meeting your own deadlines and being responsible for yourself. It's also about taking pride in one's work, because that is the real reason to be so focused on getting each project done to the best of my ability. Show less

      Editorial Intern

Despite this internship being remote, I got to do more hands-on work in this field than I have before. I proofread and edited 3 manuscripts, and I was given credit for editing in 2 of those books. Within those same 2 books, I did all of the internal formatting, which I was given credit for as well. I was also able to write the back summary of one of these books, having done research into how other novels of this genre usually have their summaries styled. Every week, I read and reviewed a batch of queries alongside my other assignments. There was also an additional task that I volunteered for, which was to update the WordPress website with author information. Show less
